The Director of the TRIO High Potential program provides equity-driven leadership and management of a $1.3 million, grant-funded TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program. The program provides proactive, comprehensive, strengths-based support to students who are first-generation, low-income, and/or disabled. The Director is responsible for supervising a team of three Success Coaches in the planning, directing, evaluating and administering the mission-focused first-generation program.
The Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Create and collaboratively pursue a plan for an inclusive and equitable institutional culture supporting first-generation student belonging and academic success
Lead team in planning and implementation of all components of first-generation student outreach and support, the Peer Mentor Program, coaching, Summer Academic Institute for Leaders and Scholars (SAILS), First-Gen Day
Oversee the curriculum and programming goals for all programs
Supervise and mentor staff: recruit, train, lead, support individualized professional development, and submit performance evaluations for Success Coaches and program assistant/graduate intern(s)
Develop and oversee the $1.3 million TRIO grant and institutional budget
Ensure program objectives and activities are aligned with federal requirements and the project proposal, and that at least a minimum number of participants are served
Lead regular department meetings
Track team progress toward goals and compliance with federal TRIO-SSS service requirements
Conduct outreach and recruitment of program participants in collaboration with Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, the Advising Office, Student Life, and other Student Success staff to ensure all students are aware of the program’s objectives, services offered, and eligibility requirements
